Vascular smooth muscle cell-derived exosomes promote osteoblast-to-osteocyte transition via β-catenin signaling. | In contrast, endothelial cell-derived exosomes facilitated mature osteoblast differentiation by reprogramming the TGFB1 gene family and osteogenic transcription factors osterix (SP7) and RUNX2. Notably, VSMCs express significant levels of tetraspanins (CD9, CD63, and CD81) and drive the intracellular trafficking of exosomes with a lower membrane zeta potential than those from other cells. Our study demonstrates that vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs), but not endothelial cells, are sufficient to drive bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cell-derived osteoblast-to-osteocyte transition via β-catenin signaling and exosome-mediated communication.
Dual-Modal Aptasensor for Sensitive Detection of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Exosomes Utilizing Two-Dimensional Nanopaper Co@g-C3N4@PB. | AuNPs were functionalized with exosome-capturing probes containing thiol-modified CD63 aptamers, which were immobilized on screen-printed gold electrodes.
Phosphatidylinositol-3-phosphate mediates Arc capsid secretion through the multivesicular body pathway. | Intake of extracellular vesicles purified from Arc-expressing wild-type, but not RalA/B double knockdown, cells in mouse cortical neurons reduces their surface GlutA1 levels.

IL-1β-induced mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes inhibit neuronal ferroptosis in intracerebral hemorrhage through the HSPA5/GPX4 axis. | The objective of this investigation was to investigate the molecular mechanism of IL-1β-induced mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (IL-1β-Exo) in mitigating ICH injury.
Isolation and analysis of the exosomal membrane proteins in bullous pemphigoid. | The BP180 ICD and CD63 on exosomes could potentially be novel biomarkers for monitoring disease activity.
Novel Endogenous Engineering Platform for Robust Loading and Delivery of Functional mRNA by Extracellular Vesicles. | Here, a bioengineering platform for efficient mRNA loading and functional delivery using bionormal nanoparticles, extracellular vesicles (EVs), is established by expressing a highly specific RNA-binding domain fused to CD63 in EV producer cells stably expressing the target mRNA.
A microfluidic-based chemiluminescence biosensor for sensitive multiplex detection of exosomal microRNAs based on hybridization chain reaction. | The microfluidic device contained three parts: a snake-shaped channel for fully mixing chemiluminescent reagents, a ship-shaped channel modified with CD63 protein aptamer for capturing exosomes, and another two parallel ship-shaped channels for hybridization chain reaction (HCR) amplification and CL detection.
Corneal epithelial-stromal constructs to study differences associated with diabetes mellitus. | Both T1DM and T2DM stromal constructs expressed lower expression of thrombospondin-1 in isolated extracellular vesicles (EVs) compared to controls with no significant difference observed in the presence of epithelial cells, suggesting that reduced provisional matrix secretion in the corneal stroma may be a factor that promotes delayed corneal wound healing in diabetes. The tetraspanins are established extracellular vesicle (EV) markers and include CD63, CD81, and CD9, and were highly expressed by EVs in all three cell types.
